Summary/Objective:
The Awards Collection Intern will assist with the cataloging and inspection of moving images related to the Academy Awards and other awards the Academy presents. The Intern will view files from various awards-related events to verify their content and improve their cataloging. This will involve adding copy histories, summaries, timecode logs, and notes to the Archive's collection management system. The intern will also inspect a small collection of award-related film elements. The internship is based at the Academy's Pickford Center for Motion Picture Studies in Hollywood.
This is a limited-term internship position beginning in June 2026 through August 2026.

This internship is part of the Academy’s Gold Rising program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities, including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.

Essential Functions of the Job:
- Verify and describe content in the Academy’s data management system.
- Use online resources such as our press photos to better identify attendees in our event recordings.
- View and compare audiotapes, videotapes, and files using various audio and videotape decks as well as Open Text Media Management.
- Work with the Curator to address other cataloging issues as discovered.
- Basic film inspection training.
- General support to other archive projects as they come up.
Required Competencies:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate-level moving image preservation or MLIS program.
- A minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Excellent written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and efficient with good problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move moderately heavy boxes (20 lbs.) to and from high and low shelves.
- Remain in a stationary position at a computer and enter data for long periods of time.
