Summary/Objective:
The Photograph Archive Processing Intern will assist the department by processing a photograph collection at the Margaret Herrick Library. Processing provides hands-on experience working with photographic materials. This collection focuses primarily on actors and actresses from the mid-to late-20th Century and consists mainly of production and publicity photographs.
This is a limited-term internship position beginning in June 2026 through August 2026.

This internship is part of the Academy’s Gold Rising program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.

Essential Functions of the Job:
- Organize and rehouse the assigned collection.
- Create inventory records.
- Research names and titles as needed.
- Work with different databases as needed.
Required Competencies:
- Graduate or Undergraduate (junior or senior) or Community college student in good academic standing.
- A minimum of 3.0 GPA.
- Ability to work on-site in Beverly Hills required.
- Knowledge of American film history, with a broad awareness of major film artists.
- Coursework in library and information science, film studies, American studies, or a related field is preferred.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move and transport moderately heavy boxes.
