Summary/Objective:
The Academy Film Archive is seeking an organized and enthusiastic intern to support its Cataloging Team with moving image cataloging projects related to the Archive’s trailer collection. This work includes enhancing metadata for two collections of Latin American trailers spanning from the 1930s through the 1980s.
This position will work approximately 30-40 hours a week from June through August. Community college and undergraduate film students with a strong interest in moving image archival studies or library science with a focus on access are encouraged to apply.

Essential Functions of the Job:
- Perform descriptive cataloging and authority control using a relational database.
- Conduct research and identification of archival content, as needed.
- Clean up legacy metadata.
- General support to other cataloging projects as they come up.
Required Competencies:
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student, including those pursuing an associate degree at a community college. Students who graduate with their undergraduate degree or transfer from a community college to a four-year institution between May 1 and December 1, 2026, are also eligible.
- Academic interest or experience in Library/Information Science, Museum Studies, Cinema and Media Studies, Cultural and Ethnic Studies, or related disciplines.
- Must be a resident of Los Angeles County and either attending college outside of the region or currently enrolled in a college located in Los Angeles County.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and a vested interest in an underrepresented community's role in the history of film production.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to remain working on a computer for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Spanish language proficiency
- Knowledge of Mexican and/or Latin American cinema history
- Familiarity with Excel and relational databases.
